Patient and public involvement
Patient and public involvement (PPI) in health and related research refers to a partnership where the design and conduct of research is performed with the active involvement of the public and patients. There is the expectation that it will improve the quality and relevance of research.
The Sheffield Vascular Research Team has an ongoing commitment to PPI with a patient expert and lay member included in our Steering Group.
Two PPI panels have also contributed to the development and conduct of our research; the Cardiovascular Research Patient Panel and the Online Patient Advisory Panel, both based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
A longer term objective is the formation of a vascular conditions PPI panel which could contribute to the design, development and conduct of further research in this area.
